HLA 1998 was produced to provide the HLA community with the latest information on the frequencies of HLA alleles and goes hand in hand with HLA 1997 which included mainly Class II data. In HLA 1998, much more Class I data is included. This timeless reference text contains summary tables, together with world maps on HLA-A, -B and –DP allele frequencies and provides an idea of how alleles are distributed in different populations. Tables of 2-locus haplotype frequencies for A/B and DRB1/DQB1 alleles were generated across four ethnic groups (Asians, Blacks, European and North American Caucasians) formed by combining appropriate studies. Chapter 4 includes a particularly useful table that lists the two hundred most common HLA-A,-B,-DR haplotypes with their estimated frequencies and ranking within five different racial groups.
