ASHI SPONSORS SEVERAL AWARDS TO RECOGNIZE SCIENTIFIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE FIELDS OF HISTOCOMPATIBILITY AND IMMUNOGENETICS, AND SERVICE TO THE SOCIETY.

Rising Star Award (formerly ASHI/SEOPF J. MARILYN MACQUEEN AWARD)

ASHI established the ASHI/SEOPF Award honoring J. Marilyn MacQueen. Marilyn was active in immunogenetics and histocompatibility testing since 1964, and was committed to helping young technologists in ASHI or SEOPF-accredited laboratories worldwide. The ASHI/SEOPF J. Marilyn MacQueen Award is presented annually to an outstanding HLA technologist who has worked in the field for less than 36 months and wants to pursue a career in HLA.

In 2013, the award was renamed the Rising Star Award. Recipients of this award include:

PAUL I. TERASAKI CLINICAL SCIENCE AWARD

The Paul I. Terasaki Clinical Science Award was established in 2003 to honor an individual, group, or institution in recognition of significant accomplishments and/or contributions to the fields of clinical transplantation, histocompatibility, and immunogenetics. TRAVEL FUND AWARD

The Travel Fund Award was created to help new ASHI members attend regional and annual meetings. The ASHI Board of Directors has approved two grants for Technologist members for each Regional meeting in 2016. For the Annual meeting, two grants have been reserved for Technologist members and two for Doctoral level members.

*Limited to one travel award per institution each year. 

 

In order to be considered for the ASHI Travel Award, you should: 

  • Be an ASHI member for five (5) years or less
  • Have no more than three (3) years of experience in the field
  • Demonstrate volunteer service to ASHI
  • Desire to further your career in HLA
  • Be a current ASHI member
