New Login Procedure for

Member Restricted Access

If you are like most people who use the internet, you probably have a multitude of usernames and passwords to remember.  There is information on the ASHI web site that is restricted to viewing by ASHI members only () and, up to this point, the password has changed with every new issue of ASHI Quarterly.  From now on, you will only need to remember two things to access these areas.

Your first initial and last name is now your username, and the password is your 5-digit Membership ID Number.  Both your name and your Membership ID number are indicated on the membership card issued to each member beginning with the current membership year.  For example, if your name were John Jones and your Membership ID Number 00000, when clicking on a page restricted to viewing by members only, you would enter “JJones” as your username, and “00000” as your password (without quotes).

Once you have logged in, you will not have to log in again for any member-restricted area during your visit to the site.  In order for this to work, you must enable the use of "cookies" on your computer.  In this case, the  "cookie" is a small piece of information stored in memory (nothing is written to your hard disk) that tells our web site you have successfully logged in. The "cookie" is removed when you leave.  The same login mechanism will also allow you to edit and update your membership directory information on line.  Parts of ASHI Digital Discussions area will still require a separate password, but you could change your password to your Membership ID Number to keep it consistent across the web site.
