Mission Statement

 

The mission of the Foundation is to actively support the leadership role of the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics in establishing and promoting the highest standards of care for patients and donors by funding basic and applied scientific research, and administrative research/projects, professional education, technical training, and public education in all aspects of histocompatibility and immunogenetics transplantation.

 

Original Goals and Purposes

  • To fund, plan, identify, cultivate, request, accept, acknowledge, and recognize philanthropic contributions through a continuous process to provide funding for administrative and scientific research and educational programs.

  • To foster the exchange of ideas and information relating to histocompatibility and solid organ and bone marrow transplantation.

  • To encourage the development of administrative and scientific expertise in histocompatibility and solid organ and bone marrow transplantation through research and education.

  • To encourage through research and education the most appropriate use of histocompatibility testing.

  • To encourage the investigation of the most appropriate means of matching and monitoring transplant recipients.

  • To improve the quality of transplantation by encouraging education and research designed to ensure long term survival of transplanted tissue with the least deleterious effect.

  • To work with other organizations in areas of research and education in all aspects of histocompatibility, immunogenetics and transplantation.
