ASSOCIATION HLA CLASS I AND IDIOPATHIC RECURRENT SPONTANEOUS ABORTIONS IN COUPLES FROM ZULIA STATE, VENEZUELA.

Many Authors coincide that the Idiopathic Recurrent Spontaneous Abortions (IRSA) are caused by alteration in the immunological equilibrium that should reach during the pregnancy and that HLA antigens play an etiopathonegenic role in development of IRSA. The purpose of this investigation was to evaluate the HLA association with IRSA. Microlymphocytotoxicity Terasaki Test was carried out for HLA Class I antigens detection in 14 patients couples and 41 healthy couples from mestizo zulian population from Venezuela. Chi square statistical method, corrected by Yates or Fisher test was using according to results. There were not difference among one, two or three coincidences of HLA antigens. There were not difference between Homozygosity rate. The relative risk higher than 3 with a significant difference in comparison to control group were observed for the following HLA antigens and two loci haplotypes: A9 =3.81, B49 =22.65, Cw2 = 4.87,Cw5 = 6.23 and Cw6= 3, A9-Cw2 =46.7, A28-Cw2 =21.0, A9-Cw4= 7.6, A24-Cw5 =27.25, A2-Cw6 =12.54, A2-B49=21.0 were found. Positive and negative associations with the antigens HLA-Bw4 and Bw6 were not observed.An negative association was showed with the A2-Cw4 (RR=0.06). These findings suggest that the antigens and haplotypes positively associated might be a risk factor for IRSA. The A2-Cw4 might be a protection haplotype. Finally, APCA, antigenic HLA coincidence, Bw4, BW6 antigens and Homozygosity rate in patient group could not be implicated in IRSA in this zulian mestizo population.
